Hey there, I’ve recently created a work through board for my team. How do I go about to sending them all the same board that they can edit individually without it editing the main one?

Hi @BensFutures - If you mean you have a master board and want to clone it X times, so that each of X people get their own unique copy of the board - very easy to do with the REST API - and in fact I wrote an app to do exactly that!  Bad news is that I have never published the app. And I guess it doesn’t help you much if you are not able to write your own software. But . . . it does encourage me to fix the bugs and publish my app!

Hey @BensFutures! Great question—sounds like you want to share individual, editable copies of a Miro board so each teammate can work on their own version without affecting your original.

Here’s how you can do that:

Option 1: Duplicate the board

  1. Open your original board.

  2. Click the three dots (•••) in the top-left of the dashboard thumbnail or open the board and click on the board name > Duplicate.

  3. Name the copy something like “Name – Workthrough Copy.”

  4. Share each duplicated board with the specific person you want to give it to:

    • Click Share in the top right,

    • Add their email with Editor access,

    • Or generate a link with edit access and send it to them.

Repeat this for each teammate.

Option 2: Template link workaround

If you're on a paid or Education plans, you can save your board as a template:

  1. Select the vertical three dots in the Board bar. The Main menu opens.
  2. Select Board > Export > Save board as template.
The Save as a template modal opens.
  3. Complete the on-screen instructions.
  4. Select Save template.

If you’re on the Free plan, share it as shown in Option 1.
