Duplicate or import of a board backup is not possible

Hi all,

In the past I duplicated boards in Miro without having problems. This time I wanted to duplicate a board and getting an error “Sorry, something went wrong”. Also tried to backup the board and import it again. A backup of the board is possible without getting an error but reimporting the file is not possible and I am receiving the error “File is not a valid backup”.

Could you please help me, why duplicating the board is not possible?

Board has <200MB file size. I am the woner of the board.

Hi @Chris Kramer

Thanks for reaching out! Let’s look into both of these issues:

Duplicating the board
It’s possible that the board’s permission settings prevent duplication. Please check with the board owner to review the sharing settings, specifically the “Who can copy the board content” option. You may show the screenshots below to the owner.

If the settings look correct but you’re still seeing the “Something went wrong” error, it might be that your Team Admin has restricted board duplication at the team level. In that case, you can ask your Admin to review and adjust this permission in the team settings.

Importing the backup file

The Miro interface can only upload board backups of less than 200 MB. If your backup file is under that limit but still won’t upload, we can have the Support team assist with restoring the backup on the backend.

I can help you reaching the Support Team if you wish to proceed with this request. Hope this helps!

Hi Eca,

first of all, thank you very much for the detailed information you provided and the effort you put into it.

Unfortunately, none of it is the cause of my current problems. I am able to duplicate older boards, and I can also duplicate newly created boards. I can also restore backups of older boards and create backups of new boards. Only with two specific boards that I created myself am I unable to create duplicates or restore their backups. The size of these boards is also not the problem, as they are only 16 MB in size.

Best regards
