Hi everyone! 👋

I’ve been exploring fun ways to use Miro beyond typical meetings and brainstorming, and wanted to share an idea that might be cool for teams or classrooms:

Have you ever played Letter Boxed? It’s a word puzzle game where you connect letters under certain constraints to form words — and I think the format could work really well as an interactive Miro board activity.

Here’s how it could look in Miro:

  • Place letters or letter groups around the board (like the sides of a box)
  • Participants drag and connect words that follow the Letter Boxed rules
  • Use lines or arrows to show the flow from one word to the next
  • Add voting or comments for collaboration and friendly competition

This could be a fun warm‑up for workshops, team meetups, or language learning sessions. It also turns a Miro board into a playful space where everyone contributes creatively, not just with sticky notes or diagrams.

Has anyone tried something like this before? I’d love to hear how others have gamified their boards or any tips on setting up constraints and rules visually.

Thanks in advance! 😊

Howdy @Hellen charless

Your idea sounds cool!  I’ve done games for warm-ups and icebreakers, and what usually works well is some type of way for people to pick their own avatar - be it a cartoon or a peep or something like that.

I did just have a look and it seems the Miroverse has 500+ different games: https://miro.com/templates/search/?term=game.

IMHO one feature that is really nice is the flipcard since it hides text until you flip it! I think if Miro implements a “hyperlink shape” - so you can click on it and it will jump to a new place on the board - that will be an absolute GAME CHANGER for so many things, especially gamification!

Cheers, Ken

Hi everyone,

I recently wanted to experiment with turning the Letter Boxed word game into a collaborative digital experience, and Miro seemed like the perfect tool for it. For those unfamiliar, Letter Boxed (from the NYT) challenges players to create words connecting letters on the edges of a square without repeating letters.

Here’s what I tried on Miro:

  • Creating the board: I used a square frame and added letter tiles along the edges. Each tile is a draggable sticky note, so team members can move them around to form words.
  • Tracking words: I set up a separate frame for submitted words and used color-coded sticky notes to track valid vs invalid entries.
  • Collaboration: Multiple participants can join in real-time, brainstorming and trying different word combinations together.

A few tips I found helpful:

  1. Use the grid and snap-to-grid options so letters stay aligned.
  2. Add tags or icons to mark tiles that have been used in a word.
  3. Use the timer widget to create a more game-like challenge for teams.

I’m curious if anyone else has tried turning traditional word games like Letter Boxed into interactive Miro boards? I’d love to hear your ideas or templates for making it more visually appealing and easier to play collaboratively.

Thanks!

HI @Hellen charless, thanks for reaching out!

You’re definitely on the right track with using connectors, voting, and comments to make it interactive. You might also try features like timers for added challenge or frames to organize rounds/levels of the game. I also encourage you to explore our templates for built in game-themed content.
