Title says it all, not sure in which exact cases it happens but it seems to happen after any form of Ctrl+a + anything that changes the text. Not sure if this is a bug or feature but can be quite annoying when using anything other than black text.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue where selecting all text (Ctrl+A) and then changing it causes problems with text formatting, especially when using colors other than black. This could be a bug or a quirk in the software you're using, as it shouldn't override existing text colors. Try updating or tweaking text settings.

hi @youngturtlesloth

Thanks for bringing this up to the community!

I attempted to replicate the issue, but when I pressed Ctrl+A, it didn’t force my text color to black.

It’s possible this could be a bug or something that might be fixed with a few troubleshooting steps. Could you please try the following:

  • Check if the issue occurs in incognito (private) mode and a different browser.
  • Disable browser extensions (e.g. Grammarly), as they can sometimes interfere with Miro processes.
  • If you're using the Desktop app, try resetting the app data.
  • If the issue happens on a specific board, try duplicating it and see if the issue persists on the copied board.

@Jhonleo02, Thank you for jumping in and sharing your thoughts! You're right—text formatting shouldn't override existing colors when using Ctrl+A. I’ve provided some troubleshooting steps for @youngturtlesloth, and it’s worth testing whether this might be a bug or a configuration issue.

I’d also like to let the both of you know that some of Miro’s biggest product updates are coming! It may be relevant to your use cases. Save your spot here at our Canvas ‘24 event happening October 8th to learn more. Please let me know if you have any additional questions – happy to help!

hi @Eca
I meant Ctrl+a together with anything that updates the text. The update doesn't even have to replace the original text to “reset” the textbox/sticky. Also when I simply press an arrow key and proceed to type again it still changes the colour to black. I tested it in incognito now too and it got even weirder. I did some tests and got the same results, tabbed out and later came back, then suddenly it did the same bug but instead of changing the colour to black it now saw the colour I was using to test as the new base colour, and changed anything to that colour instead after using Ctrl+a + anything. So also when I create new text boxes/objects in the incognito tab it makes them that colour. My regular tab still has the black base colour though.

Hi @youngturtlesloth,

Thank you for the detailed explanation! To assist with our investigation, could you please send a short video demonstrating the issue? This visual could be incredibly helpful for us to determine whether it can be resolved with a few troubleshooting steps or if it’s something that needs to be flagged as a bug for our internal team to address.

Looking forward to your response!

@Eca did you test what I described?

Additional thing I found; the base colour change isn't random but it occurs every time you click out of the object after doing a colour change.

EDIT only now see that the only gif compressor that actually worked just cut out 90% of the gif lol. for some weird reason the 3 most popular gif compressors all got stuck in an endless wait trying to compress it, gotta love software. just spent like an hour trying to get this 5mb gif stuff to work so i cba to fix it now, going to sleep

Okay, morning me here to finally upload the visual

Hi @youngturtlesloth,

Thanks for sharing a video demonstrating the issue.

I was able to reproduce the same behavior on my end.

I converted your ticket to a support ticket so our team can investigate further and take action. Kindly check your inbox for their response.
