Using Miro for Collaborative Group Work in the Classroom
Hi Miro Community,
I'm a teacher and I'm interested in using Miro to facilitate group work in my classroom. I'd like to divide my class into 5 groups and have each group work independently on their own boards, without being able to see what the other groups are doing. Once the groups are finished working, I'd like to be able to make the entire board visible to everyone.
Is this possible in Miro? If so, could you please provide me with some instructions on how to set this up?
Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,
Veselin Zashev

Hi @Veselin Zashev,
Thank you for reaching out! Miro is a fantastic tool for collaborative classroom activities, and it’s great to hear you’re exploring its potential. Here's how you can set up your boards for independent group work while ensuring privacy:
Create Separate Boards for Each Group:
Create five individual boards, one for each group.
Set Board Privacy:
In the board’s settings, under Share, set the access level to No Access for "Team," "Anyone with the link," or any other sharing options. This ensures that no one but you can see the board initially.
Invite Group Members:
For each board, invite only the students in the respective group. Add their email addresses under the "Share" menu and set their access level to Editor. This way, only group members can access their specific board.
Sharing the Completed Boards:
Once the group activity is finished and you want to make the boards visible to the entire class, go back to the Share settings. Change the access level for "Team" or "Anyone with the link" to editor if you want them to collaborate further.
This setup ensures privacy during group work while making it easy to share progress or results afterward.
Let me know if you have any questions or need additional guidance setting this up!
Thank you very much, Eca.
It sounds great.
I would like the completed tasks to be merged into one overall board (project), which would then be viewed as a whole. That is, I would like the separate boards of the individual groups to be merged, so I was looking for an opportunity for everything mentioned to happen on one board if possible.
Hi @Veselin Zashev,
Currently, there isn’t an option to merge multiple boards directly into one. However, you can manually copy the content from each board and paste it onto a single board where you’d like to consolidate everything. Here’s how you can do that:
Select All Content. On the source board, press Ctrl + A (or Cmd + A on Mac) to select everything.
Copy. Use Ctrl + C (or Cmd + C) to copy the content.
Paste. Navigate to your destination board and use Ctrl + V (or Cmd + V) to paste the content.
To make this process smoother, ensure you adjust the positioning and scaling of elements on the destination board for a cohesive view of the project.
If you have additional questions, feel free to ask!
