We all love clever tools, right? Little tricks that make our lives easier.
Of course the opposite is true. When a feature is trying to be clever but isn’t it can be infuriating. So goes the handling of pasting URLs.
Miro behaviour:
- I copy a URL from my clipboard - in this instance I was marking up a deeplink in Miro
- I paste it into a text box - so far so good, it pastes the text I selected and turns it into a clickable link.
- I duplicate the text box to copy another URL.
- This time when I paste the URL it doesn’t update the text, but it does silently replace the clickable link.
- I spend 5 minutes confused about why two supposedly different URLs have the same content.
My desired behaviour
- Treat URLs pasted into boxes like they’re text. Seriously, it’s not super complex.
- OR
- Provide some sort of messaging for what you’re doing - maybe a little toast perhaps?
Thanks
