Hey Miro team,
I’d like to suggest adding the board name to the URL, so it’s easy for me to go to my often used boards right from my browser address bar, as it would recognise the boards.
User Story
As a miro user I want to be able to quickly access known boards in my browser based on knowing the name of the board, so that I don’t always have to go via multiple clicks to get to my boards.
Acceptance Test Criteria
- I have visited a board I’ve been using multiple times (i.e. my browser knows the URL already)
- I know part of my board name
- I enter part of my board name in the URL
- The browser realises there’s a miro URL that includes this board name
- I can click on the correct one and get straight to miro AND the correct board without having to click on any bookmarks or links within miro, getting to the right project, board etc.
- I am happy and can get on with my work without frustrations of not even remembering WHERE my board is stored
Security Considerations
- Obviously the unique identifiers are important to not make boards enumerable and people find and access boards they should NOT access
- However adding the board name in addition to the unique identifier in the URL could help massively (e.g. similar to Amazon or other links), it could be added as another parameter, e.g.
- CURRENT FORMAT … app/board/uXjP0abcd123/ …
- NEW FORMAT IDEA 1 … app/board/uXjP0abcd123/my_board_name_that_means_something_to_me
- NEW FORMAT IDEA 2 … app/board/uXjP0abcd123?bn=my_board_name_that_means_something_to_me
- If it’s a security concern, you could also consider making this a feature for enterprise customers, as they would have additional security configurations enabled.
