Import a board into another miro account

Hi all,

I have a miro account with Consultancy license. I worked on one board with my customer on my account.

Now my customer is purchasing their own miro license, and we would like to import our existing board to their new workspace.

I know the export feature producing an rtb file, and was wondering if I can use it for this purpose.

So, can I import an rtb in any miro account (having the backup/restore feature), or only on the original account where it came from?

Thanks for any input,

Wiebke

@ELT Trainer - I eventually had it show up on my Consultant Plan, so keep watching. When it was active on my Consultant Plan team account the first thing I noticed was this pop up (I can’t remember if it showed up on the dashboard or when I was in a board):

I simply used Strg-A and copy and paste. Worked nicely. Locked items dont get copied though.

@ELT Trainer - Have a read of this reply. Perhaps the new board content copy permissions beta feature enabled on your account:

Here's the full article I wrote on this feature:

Here’s a previous post with a similar topic. @mlanders provided a good solution for copying & pasting between a free and a paid account by sharing the board from the free account to the paid account: https://community.miro.com/got-a-question-ask-the-community-45/how-to-copy-content-from-a-free-acount-to-the-company-account-whiteboard-282

Thank you Kiron - appreciate it :)

@ELT Trainer -

If you are unable to copy & paste content, download the board to an RTB file and restore it in the other plan’s account.

@Robert Johnson Thank you so much for the detailed analysis in your article. This is exactly what I wish I could do with our boards, but cannot. I don’t have the beta update that you mention (see images below) - I wonder if they only deployed it for Educational plans (I have the Consultant plan)?

@Kiron Bondale The RTB file worked for us. I hope that Miro can make this more seamless in the future.

Thank you all!

And this copy/paste solution works cross-account? Not only cross-board?

At least cross team. I have not tried cross account.

And there is a backup function, but i have not found the restore function yet. :D

Hi together,

@Kiron Bondale  - Thank you for the link to the other thread. I read the advice and unfortunately I am still getting an error.

  • We have 2 paid and separate consultant accounts (see above)
  • Both show up on the left side of my screen.
  • I would like to copy boards from the KC account to the ELT account while I am logged into the ELT account.
  • However, I cannot copy-paste boards from one account to another. I get this error:

Why?

And this copy/paste solution works cross-account? Not only cross-board?

Hi, did you find out about exporting to another account? I have the same issue - my employer asked me to do a trial board in Miro and now they want to create their own account and want to move the trial board into it to keep working on it.

I’d like to know how to keep the board editable - e.g. bring it over as a complete board, or move the objects onto a new board. Any help appreciated
