A great story by a UX Researcher at Uber where she shares ten important lessons she learned while working for the company:

  1. Think globally
  2. Assess and prioritize
  3. Get out there (get into the user’s context)
  4. Get creative with your methods
  5. Bring stakeholders into the field
  6. Experiment with new methods of sharing insights
  7. Collaborate cross-functionally
  8. Expect the unexpected
  9. Reflect, recover…and then act
  10. Never “I”, always “we”

What would you add to the list?

Speaking about cross-functional collaboration, which teams do you usually work with?

@Felipe Saldarriaga “compare” by that did you mean synthesize (summarise, analyse, categorise into themes)? Or something else?

Thanks for this guys, do you ever need to compare interviews once you get the transcripts?@JK Blackwell @Kate Syuma

@Felipe Saldarriaga I use Zoom too (part of the suite of tools the company I work for). It does 85% of the recording job well; 15% error in saving, converting audio etc. I’ve tried Otter.ai for transcribing (it does recording too) - it’s not the best - I spend more time transcribing the transcript than actually using the transcript.

@Felipe Saldarriaga I really like using Zoom for this and “audio transcription” feature (in Zoom Cloud). https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115004794983-Automatically-Transcribe-Cloud-Recordings-

Thanks for the post Marina, any specific tools you recommend for recording and transcribing interviews?
