Wireframes: editable states for elements

Wireframe elements like select menus, buttons, switches, and checkboxes should have editable states.

For example:

  • Select Menu: click “open” and enter values to be shown as if it were dropped down, or “close” to show it in in its normal closed state, or “inactive” to show it in inactive (greyed out) state.
  • Checkboxes and Radio Buttons: should have “selected”, “unselected” and “inactive” state.
  • Buttons could have “active” and “inactive” states as well that changes the color.
  • Switches: could have “on” and “off” and “inactive” states.
  • Input fields could have “inactive” states.

This would save so much time!

The menu element works in this way somewhat.

Interactive elements would be great. A checkbox or any of the other elements that you could actually use would be a big help. The added feature of the checked boxes or toggled switches being made able to be exported or have the action reflected somehow would be even better...

I recommend extending the Buttons state to n-number of colors.  E.g., use a ‘status’ button to show a red/yellow/green state.  Further, allow icons embedded in buttons to denote status, e.g., phases of the moon icons.

All of that still would be great, I was looking to change the opacity of shapes, so that a square could block a view of a sophisticated scheme, and in case it is needed - it would be enough to hover a mouse cursor over it to reveal the contents, otherwise it would just let the audience not see the extra things they don’t need
