Add custom typeface/font

Is there a way to add google typeface or custom typeface to use on Miro board?

Hey Seul, :v_tone1:

Quite a frequent question! I’m afraid we don’t have the functionality to upload custom fonts in Miro yet :pensive:

Would you describe your use case in more detail?

I want to make mood boards for the branding workshop and I’m afraid I can’t add specific typeface other than taking photos.

@Marina

If i may add, there is a severe lack of SMALL CAPS or ALL CAPS fonts (bangers and permanent marker).

All caps font are easier to read for a lot of people and the available options are too “gimmicky”, I’d love to have something like Bebas Neue (all caps and a bit condensed), that would be perfect.

+1 I have specific fonts I use for my brand and would like to be able to use them directly in Miro instead of having to use screenshots

+20 Miro has so many capabilities beyond whiteboarding. A must have for any design board. No questions asked and no debate. Need 1 of 4 options.

  • Upload otf or ttf file and have available as a custom font
  • Ability to use google font
  • Ability to use Adobe Typefont
  • System font since in cloud probably not an option (Adobe Typefont licensing if collaboration is possible requiring user to have their own license)

Hi there! If not possible, maybe just gather information on which particular existing fonts people need the most. I myself would love to use RockSalt.

Thanks,

Alan

I was also interested in this, specifically interested in Greek fonts. I have a friend who is a professor of Greek, and he is now teaching remotely. Normally he has students write exercises on the chalkboard simultaneously, while he goes around and corrects their work, and they talk about about it as a class.

When he described how difficult this was to do over Zoom (i.e., they have to take turns, not doing it simultaneously) I immediately thought of Miro.

I would like this feature as well (add custom fonts, for brand). Then I can use it make/give workshops. That would be great.

Besides Miro is made by and for designer… which designer doesn’t want to have influence on the aesthetics ;-)

Hello,

This is something I would be very, very interested in as well. Specifically, the ability to upload custom fonts so that material created in Miro can have branding specific to my company. Without this feature, it makes Miro use a deal breaker in some scenarios. This is a huge shame, because it’s so versatile otherwise.

As a former software program manager, I am well aware of the licensing nightmare this could create for Miro if the path forward was to provide more fonts or access to more fonts.

However, if a user could upload their own font to a board and make it active, it seems to have the same licensing situation as adding google images to a board, in other words, let the user certify that they have the right to use it when they upload it.

I would LOVE to have this feature and would be happy to talk to anyone on the product team about how I’d use it.

I could not agree more.

I use it lot for presentation for my clients and most of the prescribe the use of company brand fonts. Zo I have to go back to nasty MS or other tools to do the job. So please...

At least Google Fonts! This is a must to be able to brand our workshops

Hi, I am wondering if there is the ability to add our fonts if we are an enterprise customer. We have specific brand fonts we use in any deliverable.

It would be a game changer if Miro worked similar to Webflow with regard for custom fonts. Many companies have brand guidelines and if the boards could be branded or coordinated a little more, then I can see design teams urging teams to use per-created  templates.

I personally want to use Miro for workshops, but with the lack of type it feels dis-jointed from my other materials. I could embed images of the headlines and such, but my workshops are about accessibility, and that makes the text inaccessible. Would love to see Miro help users create more accessible content and this is one way it could be possible.

Licensing aside, allowing users to use custom font files as they would on a website, would be powerful.

Please let us load Google fonts and control the leading, space between lines.

This would make Miro much better especially for presentation.

This would also help my team out as we would like to use our brand type as we use miro for collaborative documentation.

great idea

Ideally uploading our own style guide fonts and then setting those as default would be great… but just being able to select one of the other existing fonts and setting it as default would be awesome for us. We’re all here because we put huge value on visualizing our work so more freedom here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Miro team you’re doing great things!

Yea, definitely would be cool if we could load custom fonts!

+1 great idea

literally my only complaint about Miro is not being able to upload fonts! hope this is added soon!!

I second that - please do not include Google Fonts directly, by default, without an option to switch it off. I do not want to create a landing page that collects a GDPR-compliant OK for my customers for including Google fonts - whose download will allow Google to track them.

+1,000,000

This would also help make Miro more usable in non-Latin scripts like Arabic and Hebrew that are currently unable to enjoy even the limited list that is currently provided by Miro.

It will be very useful for us if we can upload our own font type - either a TTF any general font file that is widely supported.
