Are we Kanban-ing WRONG?

Provocative Question: Are we Kanban-ing Wrong? Sitting down to clean-up and sprint-prep our work planning board with a client recently I began to scratch an itch that had been bothering me…  Tasks in GANTTs/PERTS etc flow one way with respect to time and task and Kanban conventionally flows the opposite way.  GANTT:  Right to Left task flowGANTT, PERT and other such time planning visualization systems (In western convention, as far as I know, any way…)  layout time as: left is earlier and right is more future. To read these over time a ‘now’ window slides across the time line from left to right. The “to do” items start off to the right of the time window, the ‘done’ items end up on the left of the window and the ‘doing’ live in the middle of the window.  The flow of tasks with respect to this time window is from right to left. Kanban: Left to Right task flowConventionally a Kanban works in the opposite direction; where tasks flow from left to right.  _______________Our progress in a bo

[RESOLVED] Change Item Type - context menu - Recent UI issues?

The “Change item type” button is failing right now (the one on the left side of the context menu). The UI leaves the original item type icon and places the changed item type icon on top of it. Also: Third Party App icons are showing up 2X large in the toolbar.    Are others seeing this?

Clusterizer: New Feature Update: Interested Beta Testers?

Clusterizer - New Feature: Looking for Beta TestersAt Refractive Strategy we are inspired by the promise of what we as a community will be able to build on the Miro platform (API/SDK). In November we released Clusterizer as a plugin on the Miro Marketplace - an exciting tip-of-the-iceberg moment in this promising future.  We dream of, and are persistently prototyping, many Miro plugins and look forward to sharing more of those soon, but we also want to stay in the creative loop with Clusterizer, its users, and their visions. Since November we’ve received some wonderful and insightful feedback and encouragement from the Miro community - your improvement ideas for Clusterizer as well as all the other imaginative Miro plugin visions you’ve shared are the purest form of inspiration - and we strive to respond creatively. We’ve been focusing on adding the most requested feature - which was : “Scale the preview objects by their relative level of connectivity in the network.”   New Feature:

Upgrade to 'Business' (to get the new features...) 'UPGRADE PLAN' PAGES BROKEN

To whom it may concern… I’m not sure if this is only happening to me… but I’m trying to upgrade from ‘Consultant’ to ‘Business’. miro.com/pricing is broken in that it only shows me ‘free’ plans that I’ve been invited to the account settings page for ‘change plan’ give me nothing clickable in order to set my upgraded selection.    If any support people see this and want a video of this experience, Please DM me… Thank you. :)

New Quick Directional Duplicate Hotkey:ALT (option)  +   ← → ↑ ↓ (arrow keys) This is a great way to quickly build an array or a path of objects.

We talk a lot on this community forum about HOW we plan, vision, design. Miro is perfect for collaborative planning and getting teams and communities rallied around visions of the future. In uncertain times and in a world in need of big action around challenges, I’d love to hear this visionary community’s dreams of the future -- for us to share WHAT we are envisioning.  What are you visioning?Can you share some inspiringly ambitious or virtuous plans? What’s gleaming out there at the far end of your timeline? Building Miro Plugins is Literally Life Changing: Miro API is 🚀

We’ve been having a blast developing tools for this community on the Miro API/SDK.  ‘Blast’ doesn’t capture it… the ability to build tools on top of all the amazing features in Miro is straight-up life changing.  The developer docs and sample projects are well put together and make it easy to get started. Its not rocket science -- but the potential feels … astronomical 🤓 ←  Miro now  |   Miro after the creative world discovers the API → What follows is a glimpse into how its been going. We’re about to begin sharing the tools in beta. We’ll keep you posted.  Always eager to share what we’ve learned and collaborate with other Miro enthusiasts. miro.getClientId() is broken or deprecated..?

 @Farbod Saraf @farbodsaraf @Daniela Gavidia its seems that . . . miro.getClientId(). . . has suddenly broken.  We found the error as one of our Clusterizer users reached out to us.  The issue has indeed taken Clusterizer down with it → as we cannot write metaData without the clientID.  Was it deprecated…?  It is still shown in the SDK d.ts file but the console returns this error. ​​​​​​

Signing out and back in my "team icons" on the dashboard on the left get reorganized back to essentially 'sort by date-joined’.  This is mildly frustrating… Wish = leave the teams in the order I place them.

Prototype update: Zoom Transcript Visualized to Miro

Zoom Transcript to Miro Layout  Made a fun Miro plugin prototype this week .. been dying to make it for a while. It takes a zoom meeting transcript and lays it out into a commenter-by-commenter swimlane-ish flow of their sequential comments on stickies.  Here’s a little demo video walk-through of where I was able to nudge the prototype to this week. Like any prototype it sheds light on the basic idea and what’s working / not working … What do you all think?  What would you want to do with something like this?

Embed Miro board into Miro Board: make the iFrame update the way embedded Google Docs do.Open

Embed Miro Board “A” into Miro Board “B”.  This is an obscure and awesome feature in Miro … If you haven’t tried it… try it.You can ‘export’ board as an iFrame. (upload/export button, ‘Embed’) You can import “Paste iFrame code” ( ‘...’ at bottom of left toolbar ) You can get an activate-able iFrame of board “A” in board “B”  which is cool.. inside board “B” you can tunnel into board “A” and at least scroll around the content of board “A”.  Think of it more a window than a door at this point.  Wish List item would be:  1) at least make the content/state of the embedded iFramed board (board ‘A’ in our example) be updated upon each click/activation of the iFrame. ( This is how the embedded ‘live’ Google Docs feature works. What happens now is that once activate an iFrame of Miro board A in Miro board B that state of board A is cached and never changed until you refresh or close/open B. Which means you can never get ‘live’ updates of things changing in A.  2) at best go so far as to ena

Helping 150+ Schools Collectively Bargain for PPE: Using Miro + Zoom

Yesterday was a grounding day.   My team joined the Community Purchasing Alliance as they led a zoom meeting of 150+ school administrators preparing to collectively purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) for their schools next year (gloves, masks, thermometers, hand sanitizer).  By purchasing together they’ll access prices at a fraction of the cost of buying individually.   Yesterday was somehow much heavier and more grounding than big-meeting-remote-facilitation-as-usual.    In the break-out sessions we learned just how hard it is for schools all over the country at this moment dealing with so much uncertainty, and so many challenges at once. We bore witness to the courage and resilience of these school leaders in the face of these challenges and felt the gratitude of this network for the coordination…  the power that comes from feeling organized as a large collective in a moment that otherwise feels so isolated, bewildering and divided.       Felipe Witchger, at Commun

Who loves this new Auto-Layout tool as much as me?

This little widget blue handle for auto-layout-distribute is awesome!!  Send my appreciation to the team behind this feature!  Thank you.  Align + distribute flow between horizontal or vertical ( like a transpose ). YES!!!    I have faced this layout challenge so often!!!    In fact just earlier this week with a client I needed this … and had I had this tool I could have demo’d something on the spot, but without it I had to stop the flow of thought, put a pin in the exploration and say “I’ll reorganize these horizontally and get back to you.”   HA!   Bravo Miro!   Keep it up.
