No dark background mode toggle

I no longer am able to turn off Dark background for presentation mode. I need this as dark background disables all motion slide transitions (I’ve turned off reduce motion too). I’ve tried incognito mode and the desktop app and it seems like Dark background mode is now forced. Anyone know if this is a bug or a feature degradation?

The chatbot was worse than useless about this, so hopefully someone else knows something! Thanks.

Hi @Joshua Grant Just checking in on this—are you still experiencing the issue with being unable to turn off the Dark background in presentation mode in Miro?

If yes, let us know if anything has changed since April 9 (e.g., browser/app version), and we’ll continue helping you troubleshoot.

Hi @Eca, I’m facing the same issue. The feature that allows for a smooth transition between frames has been removed. Previously, this option was available in the presentation mode when the dark background toggle was turned off. However, this option is no longer available. This problem is consistent across Safari, Chrome, and the desktop version. Now, I can only enter the presentation mode and click “present the canvas,” which doesn’t help much because it doesn’t work with remote control movement between frames. It’s quite disappointing.

Hi @Eca . Yes, this is still a problem. No option to turn off dark mode on presentations:

I am facing the exact same issue. The smooth transitions were awesome and my presentation style. Now I am forced into the limited presentation mode. Please re-enable the old options dear Miro team! :(

I was considering subscribing but will have to look elsewhere if this feature is gone.

Any updates on this? It’s strange that Miro seems to have stealth-sunset an entire feature. All the documentation online seems to point to being able to just turn off dark mode in presentations + low motion mode to get motion presentations.

I agree with Joshua Grant’s remark. It must be simple; it was already there. You removed one of the coolest features (slow-motion frames transition) in Miro. It was very different from static presentation tools. Please restore it.

HI everyone! Thanks for continuing to report this and for sharing the additional details.

At the moment, I’m checking internally with the team to confirm whether:

  • there’s currently a workaround available for restoring the previous presentation transition behavior, or
  • if the current dark background/presentation behavior is now a permanent product change.

I understand how important the smooth frame transitions were for presentations, especially since several of you were actively using that workflow before. I’ll share updates here once I have more information from the team.

HI all,

I checked internally and also replicated the behavior with them. It appears that when a Slide presentation is still open and hasn’t been properly stopped/closed, the dashboard remains in dark mode. This seems to act as an indication that there’s still an active presentation session running. Once the presentation is fully stopped, the dashboard should return to the normal white background.

Could you please try fully exiting/stopping the presentation mode and check if the issue resolves on your side as well?
